The Human Voice as Energy: The Integration of Sound Yoga, Swara Yoga and Raga Yoga

  • ToneCenter 339 Bedford Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11211 United States (map)

A one-evening workshop with Silvia Nakkach

Like a primordial sound, the voice connects us with our true energetic and emotional nature. It becomes a link to our spiritual life by revealing deeper aspects of the self and the spirit world. With the gentle guidance of internationally renowned master musician Silvia Nakkach, whose voice transports listeners into the heart of devotion, you will experience freeing your voice as a contemplative journey through a landscape of shamanic sounds, divinely inspired melodies, and deep listening practices that unleash the nuances of your voice like never before. Immersed in vocal meditation, there is only breath, deep listening, and the magic of tone. Enhancing the sensibility of the subtle in the mind and the body, what we call “singing” becomes a doorway into inner silence where we are one with pure vibration (spanda).

The heart is open, the voice is released, the hands are moving, the eyes are softly closed—and we experience a kind of spiritual autonomy equal to unconditional love. This is a rare occasion to experience the healing potential of the voice with both an ancient and innovative approach focused on vocal meditation and melodic extension, developed by a vocal artist who is also a longtime yogini and Indian raga singer.
